Home Comforts Retreat - STA for NDIS Participants
Home Comforts Retreat is Short Term Accommodation and respite offered to NDIS participants. We work together with each individual to offer a respite package which is tailored to their interests, goals and specific needs. Our packages focus on getting the participants into the outdoors in a safe, fun and adventurous way. With no out of pocket expenses and well under the recommended NDIS funding price, our packages will allow our participants to come visit multiple times a year and the opportunity to have more experiences and respite, whilst their primary carers can enjoy a break knowing they are in safe hands. Our packages and accommodation are designed for people with disabilities who are able to walk, dress and eat unassisted. The participants should be capable of doing hikes, walks and steps in the outdoors, and would like a little more adventure in their lives.
We focus on 3 main goals for our participants:
- Connecting with nature and the outdoors.
- Trying something or visit somewhere new, fun and exciting.
- Enhancing joy, individuality and independence.
Terrigal, Central Coast, NSW
We offer our studio apartment which is located 500m from Terrigal Beach and the town centre. Terrigal is a quaint coastal town on the Central Coast. It offers great and delicious cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs. It also has a few specialty shops, a small supermarket and monthly local markets. This location has a beautiful beach with a stunning boardwalk around to The Haven, where the protected beach is great for swimming and snorkeling. We are located 4km from Erina Fair shopping centre, which has many specialty shops, Woolworths, Aldi, Coles, Cinema, Ice-skating, Library, Doctors, Cafes and Restaurants. A public bus departs approximately every 30mins from Terrigal to Erina Fair. We can pick up participants from their home town and transport them to our accommodation at Terrigal in our comfortable 2020 Subaru Outback (no more then 400km away and additional kilometers will be added for distance to and from participants home.)

Our Support Worker and Operator - Monika
Monika is a dedicated and trusted support worker. Monika has worked as a support worker since 2018. She has previously been an outdoor adventure guide since 2012. She loves nothing more than to pass on her love of the outdoors and nature to her participants. The Extra information
Our Studio Apartment
We offer our studio apartment which can sleep up to 3 individuals in a comfortable bunk bed and a single bed. We provide clean linen, comfortable bedding and towels. The Studio is attached to the main house and has its own private entry. It can be easily accessed down the stairs from the main house where the support worker will be sleeping. The participants will have 24hr access to the support worker, during the night by intercom to the support worker. For 1:1 or 1:2 support where the carer would prefer for the support worker to sleepover in the apartment with the participant/s, this can be arranged for a small overnight additional fee. Otherwise the support worker will be with the participant/s from wake-up (around 7:00-8am) to after dinner (8pm-9:00pm) a total of 12-14hrs of face to face support.

- 2 single bunk beds and additional bed for support worker or third participant if needed.
- Small modern kitchenette with 2 burner hotplates, small bench oven and microwave
- Large fridge with freezer
- Cutlery, crockery and cooking essentials
- Modern renovated bathroom with shower, toilet, washing machine and vanity.
- 4 seat dining table
- 3 seat lounge
- Smart TV with Netflix and free-to-air TV
- Private veranda for studio
- Large deck with undercover 8-person heated spa and shaded outside dining table
- Grassy side yard with trampoline (if you feel the urge to go jumping)
- Separate side entrance (with stairs)
- Intercom to main house where the support worker sleeps, to gain help and support during the night if needed.
- Use of outdoor recreation equipment, including full face snorkel, floatation noodles, surfboard, body board, other balls etc.
Packages we offer
Package 1
All Inclusive package
For Package 1, each day we will incorporate either a hike, swim in the ocean or way to connect with nature. We also include any activities which promote adventure, healthy lifestyle, independence and fun. We work with the participants to find their interests and work towards their goals. All activities are included in the price and the support worker will ensure they are appropriate and focused on each client’s goals and interests.
Note: Horse riding or a whale watching tour require an additional payment if the participant wishes to add this to their package.
Package 2
For Package 2, activities and support can be added each day for an additional charge. These need to be organised before arrival to make sure the support worker is available and activities can be booked.
The client/s are self-sufficient. Either they are high functioning or they have their own support worker/carer also attending.
There will be our onsite support worker on-call and contactable 24/7. On arrival the onsite support worker will spend 1-2hrs helping to familiarising the client/carers/support with surroundings and facilities.
Each day support can assist at accommodation for up to 1hr, no additional charge will be made for this hour. This can be used for planning the day, cleaning, laundry or help with food prep.
